Farm Road Reserve
π Cheltenham
Farm Road Reserve is a looooong grassy nature strip wedged into the middle of suburban Cheltenham. The park is about 500 meters long, fully fenced, and has access at both the northern and southern ends. All other sides are bounded by residential backyard fences.
There are mostly medium to large dogs at Farm Road Reserve. However, the park is large enough that even on a busy day it does not feel too cramped. Large dogs can easily go for a long run without being overwhelmed.
Tirhatuan Park
π Dandenong
Tirhautan Park is located nearby the Tirhautan Wetlands in Dandenong. This large fully fenced dog is well forested for those dogs that like to explore (and can be hard to catch at times).
Like many good dogs parks in Melbourne’s east, there are separate sections for large dogs and small dogs so you can let them run carefree for hours!
Need Better Recall? We have the answer
Tatterson Park
π Keysborough
Tatterson Park is a fairly new dog park and therefore still well covered in grass. This is perfect as you don’t need to be overly concerned about muddy dogs after a bit of rain!
There is a huge fully fenced section for all those larger dog breeds to really stretch their legs with a decent run. An assortment of tree logs in the middle of the field is useful for some agility training. This large area is commonly used by Huskies, Labradors, Goldens and other medium to large dog breeds.
Just off to the side there is another separate section for all the smaller dogs. So whether you have a small or large breed, the fully fenced Tatterson Dog Park at Keysborough is a great choice.
Curtain Square
π Carlton North
Curtain Square is the perfect spot for those wanting to let their dogs burn off some energy before sitting down at a cafΓ© along the lively Rathdowne Street in Carlton North. This relatively small dog park is fully fenced with a water station and poop bags inside.
While there may once have been grass in here, it no longer exists. Curtain Square becomes a mud put after even some light rain. Unless your doggo wants to be taking a bath after play time, we suggest visiting only when the weather has been good.
Clayton Off-Leash Dog Park
π North Melbourne
Clayton Reserve is a large triangular field, mostly well grassed, except for a couple of muddy spots. This park is frequently visited by dogs of all sizes, but more often dominated by small to medium dogs like Japanese Spitz’s.
There are quite a few seats right in the middle of the park where hoomans can sit down, but easily keep an eye on their dogs. Clayton Reserve is well equipped with multiple water stations and plenty of poop bags. There is also a smaller training area off to the side which can come in quite handy!
Note: all access points are single gates, with some being near a busy main road. Open the gates with caution to avoid any door-dashers getting out and about.

Aranga Reserve Fenced Dog Park
π Donvale
This is a huge grassy, double gated dog park in Melbourne’s northern suburbs. Aranga Reserve is mostly visited by medium to large dogs in the area, particularly lots of Huskies, and Malamutes that need a good long run. Smaller dogs might get overwhelmed, but there is also plenty of space to spread out.
There are a few limited seats near the entrance, and one main water stations with buckets of water which dogs flock to after a hard running session. Aranga Reserve also has a set of dog agility equipment down the hill on the western side of the park.
Although well grassed, Aranga Reserve can get quite muddy after a few days of continuous rain. If the weather has been wet recently, be prepared to shower your dogs when you get home.
Gilpin Park
π Brunswick
A relatively small inner suburban dog park, frequented by smaller apartment friendly dogs like Cavoodles and Mini-Schnauzers. Active larger dogs may be harder to control in here as there is a lot happening in a small space.
The fenced area at Gilpin Park is almost entirely dirt, and quickly turns to mud after some rain.
There is an additional fenced area to the side, a great breakout space for the more timid and older dogs. Many other dog parks in the area don’t have this option.
