Frequently Asked Questions
How many Sardines per pack? While our wild sardines vary in size and weight individually, there are approx. 8-10 fish per 100g pack and 18-20 pieces per 200g pack.
Are our Sardines farmed or wild caught? Our whole sardines are wild caught from Queensland waters. Since they are wild caught, you may notice a difference in size and oil content between different batches of sardines. Don’t worry, this is completely normal, they are still delicious healthy sardines for your dog!
Do our Whole Sardines break apart? We hand select and pack the most intact Whole Sardines for your dog’s enjoyment. However, dehydrated sardines are brittle and occasionally some may get a little broken up in transport from us to you. Not to worry, they taste and have the exact same amount of benefits for your dog.
How many Sardines should my dog eat to improve it’s coat quality? We suggest starting with one Sardine per day as a treat or with brekkie/diner. Improving your dog’s coat will require longer term consumption of Omega-3 rich foods like Sardines, and a well rounded healthy diet.
Are Sardines high in fat? Sardines are among the more oily natural treats for dogs with approximately 12% fat content. It is important to note that much of this is healthy essential oils like Omega-3 and Omega-6. If your dog has been put on a strictly low fat diet by your vet then we suggest talking with them first before including additional sardines.
How do they differ from canned Sardines? Canned sardines from the supermarket are commonly flavoured for people taste preferences with things like salt, chili, and olive oil. These additives might be ok for people but should definitely be avoided for dogs. Oh My Paws whole sardines have absolutely no additives, not even salt, so you can be sure they are the right source of Omega-3 for your dog’s wellbeing.
